Check to see if you're one of the over 10 million people within the UK who suffer from vitamin D deficiency. Vitamin D is essential to support immunity, strong bones and muscle function.
This test checks your stored D3 and D2 levels which represents the most effective marker for checking deficiency.
Your test results will be sent via email directly to your and BetterYou. This enables us to follow up with a tailored supplementation plan for you and an explanation on what your test result actually means.
Our vitamin D testing service comes with free UK postage.

Approximately 1 in 5 people within the UK have are low or deficient in vitamin D.
With our increasingly indoor existence and changing diets, it’s becoming harder for us to get our required vitamin D from the sun alone
A test should be considered by everyone as it helps establish if your current lifestyle and diet is providing as much vitamin D as you think it is.
While the test is suitable for everyone, people within the Department of Health’s “at-risk” groups should strongly consider checking their levels as they have an increased risk of vitamin D deficiency.
We send the testing kit out for you to use at home. All you must do is place four blood spots onto the collection card from a quick and painless nick of the finger. Full instructions are included in the pack you will receive.
Using the prepaid envelope, the collection card is then sent to City Assays, who analyse the sample for Sandwell and West Birmingham trust.
From the spots of dried blood on your sample card, the laboratory at City Assays uses a liquid chromatography mass spectrometry method to measure the Vitamin D in your blood. They measure for Vitamin D2 and D3, reporting the total and D2 and D3 results.
The results are supplied within 10 working days of the lab receiving your sample.
The results are emailed directly to you and BetterYou. From this, we will provide you with a bespoke supplementation plan to help increase or maintain your levels. You will also receive a discount code for a complimentary DLux Vitamin D Oral Spray relevant to your results, which you can redeem through our website.
Keep out of reach and sight of children.
This test is not a substitute for seeing a doctor. If you are at all unsure about your results, please consult your doctor or medical professional.
For extremely low or high levels, a member of the Sandwell and West Birmingham Trust will be in contact with you to discuss your results.
Contained within the pack is everything you need to take a blood spot sample from your finger tip.
The pack includes full and clear instructions with a postage-paid returns envelope (UK only) to post your results to the lab.

For convenience, we suggest you collect your sample first thing in the morning. This helps get an accurate understanding of your level that has not been influenced by time of day or intake of food.
While your vitamin D levels may be higher in the summer due to the natural increase in sunlight, there is still no ‘best’ time to test. Ensuring your levels are optimal throughout the entire year will provide you with the most health benefit.
The test is carried out using dry blood spot samples. This means using a simple finger prick to leave 4 spots of blood on a card which is then sent to the lab for analysis. The kit will be sent to your chosen address along with full instructions and a pre-paid returns envelope for your sample.
The laboratories we partner with are UK based, accredited and meet regulatory standards. They are some of the largest private labs in the country but also work directly with the NHS.
We would recommend testing at different times of the year to establish your year-round levels. We would suggest a maximum of 4 times per year every 3-4 months.
Blood tests can be carried out by your GP but they often take a long time to complete and you are rarely given detailed results. If you’re at all concerned with your results, you can take them to your GP for further analysis.
Our at-home kits are incredibly easy to complete. They allow you to quickly and easily take your sample without the need for a professional or visit to a GP surgery/clinic.
By using a BetterYou at-home health check you not only get to see an accurate insight into your levels of a specific nutrient. Not only this, but we also provide you with a detailed supplementation plan included within the price to help you maintain or elevate your levels for optimal health.
We will also provide you with a complimentary oral spray to help you kick-start your journey to optimal health, all included in a single one-off price.
