BetterYou awarded The Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation

BetterYou awarded The Queen's Award for Enterprise: Innovation

We're delighted to announce we have received Her Majesty's recognition in the 2021 Queen's Award for Enterprise, one of the most prestigious accolades in UK business.

A winner in the Innovation category, we've been recognised for the development of our pioneering oral spray delivery method for supplementation - An effective and convenient alternative to traditional tablets and capsules.

Innovation is a cornerstone of the BetterYou brand, so there really is no greater feeling than to receive the Innovation Award of the highest order in UK business. To be amongst the few, elite businesses in the region that have been recognised as 2021 winners is incredibly humbling. I have coveted the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise for many years and can honestly say this truly is a special moment both for myself and the entire team.

As a Founder, I’m of the belief that if you’re not moving forwards, it can feel like you’re moving backwards, yet whilst we are always striving to innovate and deliver for our customers, the strategic direction of the BetterYou brand remains unchanged. We are committed to developing exceptional, innovative and affordable pill-free nutritional supplements to support the well-being of everyone – something that has been elevated in priority for many over the last 12 months.

Andrew Thomas - Founder and CEO

10 years of innovation

Since the launch of our revolutionary and World’s first nutritional oral sprays in 2010, we have been innovating in this industry ever since and we now offer a wide range of nutritional oral sprays for vitamins and minerals that are underrepresented, or simply omitted from modern diets and lifestyles iron and vitamin B12 which are known to be poorly absorbed if supplemented by tablets.

This unique and iconic delivery mechanism allows these essential nutrients to be absorbed via the inner cheek in the mouth, bypassing the primary processing of the digestive system. This method is ideal for the growing population with malabsorption issues such as IBS, Crohn’s and Coeliac disease along with people that cannot, or prefer not, to take traditional tablets.

What is The Queen's Award?

The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise offers British companies global recognition, improved opportunities to break into new markets, attract investment and new talent, whilst also raising the awareness of each individual brand and their unique products or services.

Companies that enter the awards must present a compelling case, completing their application to the highest standards and demonstrating both clear commercial strength and a strong corporate social responsibility.

In 2020, there were just three winners of the Awards in South Yorkshire and only 66 winning companies across the UK in the Innovation category, demonstrating the strict shortlisting and judging process and the elite level that is required in order to be afforded the accolade.

We've partnered with academic institutions in Yorkshire and nationwide to undertake important research and product testing. The brand recently completed a collaboration with the University of Sheffield, with whom it has undertaken a three-year clinical trial, looking at the effect of vitamin D supplementation of the quality of life of people with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Furthermore, Dr Claire Williams of the University of Sheffield achieved her doctorate researching the efficacy of BetterYou’s Vitamin D Oral Spray.

The Better Planet Project

We're also proud to be amongst those paving the way in sustainability and environmental responsibility, having launched The Better Planet Project in 2019. This initiative ensures we take ownership of our environmental footprint and has already seen us switch to utilising planet-friendly Ocean Waste plastic and plant-sourced plastic for our entire commercial product range. We have also committed to creating palm oil-free formulations, as well as implementing sustainable practices across our supply chain and distribution channels.
