The Impact of Air Pollution
Air pollution affects people and communities around the world. Exposure to air pollution is associated with a range of serious health impacts, making cleaner air an important global environmental and public-health priority. ⁵
Trees and forests naturally absorb carbon dioxide as they grow and store carbon within their biomass and surrounding ecosystems. Mangrove forests are particularly valuable coastal ecosystems, providing environmental and social benefits beyond carbon storage.²
We'll plant a tree for you
We've partnered with Earthly to support its Mangrove Regeneration project in Maroalika, Madagascar.
The project is led by Eden Reforestation Projects and works with local communities to grow, plant and protect mangrove trees.
For every order placed through BetterYou.com, we fund the planting of one mangrove tree through the project.
Why mangroves?
Mangroves are important coastal ecosystems. They provide habitats for wildlife, support fisheries, help maintain coastal water quality and provide protection against flooding, storms and other coastal hazards. ³
They also play an important role in the natural carbon cycle by capturing and storing carbon as they grow.
According to Earthly, each mangrove tree planted through the Maroalika project is estimated to remove approximately 308kg of CO₂ from the atmosphere over its lifecycle of around 25 years. ²

Planting trees is one part of our wider BetterPlanet programme.
We know that supporting environmental projects is not a substitute for reducing the environmental impacts associated with our own business activities. We're continuing to look at the materials we use, our packaging, operations and supply chain as part of our ongoing environmental work.
Our tree-planting programme is one specific action we take to support environmental restoration beyond our day-to-day business activities.
