BetterYou™ MagnesiumGel provides essential magnesium in a targeted application. A superior way to replenish magnesium levels, as well as a support for skin health and supporting natural muscle repair.
BetterYou MagnesiumGel provides a regulated release of magnesium for sustained delivery, making it ideal for use during exercise and targeted application.
1ml of gel delivers a minimum of 100mg of optimally absorbable elemental magnesium, with a teaspoon providing 500mg.
When BetterYou MagnesiumGel is applied to the skin, this essential mineral commences absorption immediately and offers a simple and scientifically proven method of magnesium supplementation.
Magnesium is essential for a healthy body – a natural relaxant, it relieves muscle tension, stiffness and flexibility as well as aids skin health, calcium absorption and restful sleep.
How transdermal magnesium supplements work:
Applied directly onto the skin BetterYou MagnesiumGel is absorbed in to the highly porous epidermis and through to the blood vessels and muscles beneath. Completely bypassing the digestive system where many nutrients are not absorbed. Transdermal magnesium offers an effective alternative to tablets and capsules.
Apply a small pea sized amount onto the targeted area and massage well into the skin, avoiding broken skin and delicate areas such as the eyes.
Concentrate on joints, muscles and areas of concern. Reapply whenever needed.
Ideal for use after exercise. For best results apply to clean skin.
Due to its purity, MagnesiumGel is suitable for children and for use during pregnancy.
The Magnesium Tingle
On initial application, you may experience a slight tingling sensation. This may indicate low magnesium levels and is the result of the high-speed absorption of magnesium through the pores. This will pass with regular use and as absorption commences immediately, skin can be towelled off after massaging in.

This can happen if the body’s cellular magnesium levels are low. The skin can tingle as the magnesium is sucked through the skin rapidly and as magnesium is a large molecule it can cause this sensation. It is important to remember though that it isn’t an allergic reaction to the magnesium, as it is found naturally within the body and is vital to good health.
Another factor that can influence this reaction is the amount used on one area. We recommend using a small amount per area and increasing gradually. Also if you have dry or broken skin it may heighten the sensation so avoid these areas.
This reaction will decrease as your body’s cellular magnesium levels increase.
Transdermal magnesium helps to increase your body’s magnesium levels up to 5 times faster than oral supplementation. To reduce the reaction we recommend the following techniques:-
(1) Apply only a small amount to any individual skin area. Massage in well.
(2) Apply after a shower onto wet skin, while pores are open.
(3) Vary the application areas to increase the bodies overall magnesium level.
(4) Little but often is the key. Massage it in and wait for a minute or so then try a little more.
The key is to apply transdermal magnesium wherever it feels comfortable. The magnesium, once absorbed into the skin, is circulated around the body so there is no direct need to focus just on a single area. However, once your magnesium levels begin to rise you will find areas that were sensitive before are no longer so.
Magnesium Flakes can provide a gentle solution to raising your levels. Added to a bath or foot soak they can provide a lower concentration of the solution that will still help increase your magnesium levels.
Magnesium is very important during this time for both mother and baby as babies are born with twice as much magnesium as calcium, this is what makes them so flexible and why their skin is so elastic and soft.
However, it is important that during pregnancy you avoid essential oils. MagnesiumOil Joint Spray, MagnesiumOil Recovery Spray and MagnesiumOil Goodnight Spray all contain essential oils.
Our pure magnesium products are perfectly suited for during pregnancy. MagnesiumOil Original spray, MagnesiumOil Sensitive spray, Magnesium Flakes, Magnesium Soak, Magnesium Body Butter and Lotion all contain only a pure form of magnesium chloride, which is currently the subject of clinical trial at St Mark’s hospital, Harrow, on behalf of the NHS.
There are no restrictions with dosage level of these products during this time.
There are no contraindications with any of our transdermal magnesium products.
The magnesium chloride is a solution mined in Veendam in the Netherlands. The magnesium chloride is mined from an ancient seabed that has been condensed and purified for over 250 million years. To mine the magnesium chloride spring water is carefully pumped down to dissolve the seam and the solution is simultaneously brought up to the surface. The magnesium chloride concentration is 31%, perfectly stable to avoid recrystalising. The brine solution that is brought to the surface is what is bottled for MagnesiumOil Original spray and Magnesium Soak, nothing is added to it to keep the spray as pure and as universally acceptable as possible.
You do not need to worry about overdosing when using transdermal magnesium. Upper limits are only set when using the product orally, as large doses can have a laxative effect due to it being a natural relaxant.
Toxic symptoms from increased magnesium intake are not common as the body eliminates excess amounts, unless there are serious problems with kidney function. As Mark Sircus has noted in his book Transdermal Magnesium Therapy, in reality problems only tend to occur when magnesium is given intravenously.
