Over the years, as my relationship with BetterYou has grown, so has my knowledge of the benefits of transdermal magnesium use as well as my recommendations for use to my clients based on this and my own personal use.I have clients who have completely come off using medications like ibuprofen and now rely solely on the concentrated Magnesium Oil spray or a combination of Magnesium Flakes and the spray (or other products, the range is extensive) for inflammation due to possibly over-enthusiastic training, over-training or even more serious complaints such as arthritis.
A client of mine recently ran the London marathon and whilst she was already an avid weekly user of the flakes, she upped her soaking regimen and dosage to three times a week with two cups per soak. Post-marathon, where her electrolyte stores would have been completely depleted, she soaked in an entire bag of the flakes for 45 minutes and the next day had zero muscular aches, pains or problems. She believes the flakes combined with mild stretching directly after attributed to her rapid recovery and repletion of her electrolyte imbalances.
There is now serious science behind the use of magnesium in sports recovery, and whilst I will touch on it a bit here, it is better left to the BetterYou pros to explain the full cellular benefits of using magnesium if you are an athlete, or even if you are an amateur who could benefit from faster recovery post work-outs. The bottom line is magnesium helps with oxidative stress post work-out as your body requires extra oxygen when you are working out and being even just slightly deficient in your magnesium levels means you could have impaired performance whilst training, or slower recovery afterwards. No matter how healthy your diet, your body loses tons of electrolytes after a work-out and supplementing with transdermal magnesium post work-out can easily replenish these stores.
In my recent triathlon training and recovery, I added daily magnesium massage via the new Magnesium Body Lotion in addition to my regular soaks in the flakes to help fight inflammation from so much training. I also found I was having ‘lead-leg syndrome’ after I had a long bike ride but still had to go for a long run, so spraying the oil ‘in flight’ before my runs helped me immensely and I felt terrific in my training…so much so that I am competing in another triathlon in September for BetterYou! Can’t wait.
