A vegan diet focused on energy can have many benefits for the body, from helping to aid muscle recovery time, to keeping energy levels high.
British triathlete, Samantha Taylor, shares her natural discovery of these plant-based supplements in order to enhance her sporting performance. The 30-year-old, who has been competing as an athlete for over 20 years, made the decision to go vegan over five years ago and hasn’t looked back.
Deciding to go Vegan
“When I transitioned to a plant-based diet in April 2014, I immediately noticed an impact on my health.
At the time, I was competing in martial arts which meant I had to diet to make it into weight categories. Taking on a plant-based diet meant that I could still eat and fuel my body while successfully making the weight categories.
The other main change I noticed was that my recovery rate improved. This is even more evident now I compete in triathlon and no longer need to cut down for weight categories.”
Becoming a plant-based athlete encouraged me to do more research into what I put into my body, versus what my body needs. I mainly do this to make sure I get enough of a nutrient variety within my diet, this means colourful plates full of seasonal food including; carbohydrates, fats and proteins.
Choosing Vegan Supplements to Aid Energy
I prefer to try and get as many nutrients from food as I can, but BetterYou’s Vegan Health Oral Spray has been a great way to top-up essential nutrients in support of my vegan diet. I have been using the spray for approximately six weeks now, simply taking four sprays each morning.
It is so easy to use, it tastes great and I have found that using it has benefited my overall health - particularly my energy levels. I am currently moving up from sprint and standard distance in triathlon, to middle distance racing (1,900m swim, 90km cycle and 21km run) and the spray has helped me to not feel as tired from the training volume.
I would absolutely recommend this supplement, not only to vegans and vegetarians but to anyone that feels that they struggle to get enough essential nutrients. It’s very convenient and easy to use so I hope that others will feel the benefits too.”
Vegan Health Oral Spray has been formulated with the four essential nutrients that are typically underrepresented in a plant-based diet, including; vegan-certified vitamin D3, vitamin B12, iron and iodine at scientifically substantiated levels.
B12 and iron are particularly important for those who are highly-active as the nervous system and muscles require both nutrients to maintain red blood cell health, oxygen demand and nerve transduction for moving muscles.
